Welcome to My Blog

Teach People, Help Dogs. I am a dog lover and dog rescue volunteer of 30 plus years. With my dogs, I have been through cancer with chemo, kidney disease, suspected Aspergillus and an innumerable number of other weird things. My pen name comes from my constant call back to my anxious dogs when she starts barking at the smallest noise (that I made in the next room)… “just me, it’s ok… all done, it’s just me”.

Disclaimer: I am NOT a veterinarian and I am not a trainer but I am a life experience teacher and a sharer. I am just a fellow dog owner and dog lover, who, through my first career as a human laboratory technician, and my desire to be the best advocate for my dogs, picked up on a few things and have a few stories to share.

What inspired me to start this blog is threefold; first, I find myself replying to online posts in hopes that folks can see things a different way based on my experience that could help them but there isn’t enough room in a simple reply. Second, I have purchased a lot of dog products and toys so I have some great things to share! Finally, I do this in honor of my dog, Xena, who taught me how to live positively and simply, even though medical struggles can be complicated and hard.

Xena was a rescue. While she wasn’t my first, she taught me the most. I found her on Petfinder about 11 hours away. Her story was that she was a stray, found with eye infections so bad she couldn’t see and was a young 6-7 months old. I felt very honored to be allowed to adopt her since that rescue didn’t typically adopt out of state, but her photos drew me in and her profile made me think she”d be a good fit. I picked her to give my old yellow lab, Ace, some joy in his final months, to give my other young dog Bubba a friend and I needed a young female that my little middle aged Jack Russell wouldn’t feel threatened by… it was a hard order that she couldn’t have done any better. We went through so many medical issues with her, but we’ll save some of that for the blogs.

So please enjoy and learn and, ultimately, help dogs.

Just Me.
